I live near Farwell with my husband and our two dogs, Lacey and Louie. Lacey is almost five years old and is a mix between Labrador and Australian Shepherd. She loves to play in the water and "rescue" anyone or anything that strays away from shore. Louie is eight years old and is a Bichon Frise/Dachshund. Before Lacey came along, Louie was full of energy and got into everything, but now I think she's starting to wear him out! Still, they love to play and race each other around the yard at every opportunity.
For fun, I like reading, running, cooking, hunting, and spending time with my family and friends. Because a teacher's life is so busy during the rest of the year, most of my favorite activities--boating and water sports, camping, and going to mud bogs and truck pulls--involve spending time outside during the summer. It really is a great time of the year for me to recharge so I can come back to school refreshed! This is my sixth year teaching 5th grade at Nikkari. I love it here! Our school staff always puts our kids first and provides opportunities for me to try new things and sharpen my skills as an educator. I love that students here are eager to learn and get involved in activities. Before I came to teach for St. Louis, I also spent several years teaching the first and second grades at St. Cecilia Catholic School in Clare. I have also taught math and algebra classes for Mid Michigan College, and did some math and algebra tutoring there, as well. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education from CMU in 2006 (and minored in Mathematics, English, and French). I have also taken graduate classes toward earning a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in K-12 Literacy. I have always especially loved working with children because they are such curious, energetic, and enthusiastic learners. |
